Program Overview

Penn State is partnering with Project Drawdown to explore and enhance “the most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming.” The Drawdown mission seeks to clarify a positive solutions-oriented path ahead for action on climate change. By working with researchers from across the world, the team has already identified, researched, and modeled the 100 most substantive, existing solutions to address climate change. These solutions exist in Materials, Electricity Generation, Food, Women and Girls, Transportation, Buildings and Cities, and Land Use.

Now, we are recruiting undergraduate scholars who will support Drawdown through modeling and feasibility analysis. Drawdown Scholars Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program (Drawdown Scholars) will spend eight weeks in an in-depth research experience with faculty at Penn State Harrisburg.

The solutions exist and most are already implemented — we need research and education to see how they’re working, to understand how to scale them appropriately, and to communicate these efforts to policymakers and to the public. This summer, Drawdown Scholars will work with experts from many fields to contribute to the greatest challenge of our era: reversing climate change.

The Drawdown Scholars Program will host undergraduate students for 8 weeks (June 4 to July 31) at Penn State Harrisburg. Applications are being considered as space allows.
